What’s Your #MissRepStory?

In 10 seconds on social media:

  • 11,167 photos or videos are shared on Instagram
  • 833,333 videos are viewed on YouTube
  • 46,167 snaps are sent through SnapChat
  • 48,833 photos are uploaded to Facebook
  • 57,870 tweets are sent through Twitter
  • 783,333 posts on Tumblr

Through these channels we can share stories instantly with millions worldwide. And we can also use them for the collective good to shift consciousness, change behavior, and ultimately transform culture.

That’s why we made Miss Representation and an accompanying educational curriculum to arm media users – elementary school kids through college age kids – with media literacy tools critical to challenging sexism.

Now we want to hear from you September 15th-26th:

  • In a short video of 10 seconds or less, tell us: How did Miss Representation give you the tools to challenge sexism in the media?
  • Upload your video (10 seconds or less!) to Twitter using the hashtag #MissRepStory. You can use Vine, Instagram, YouTube – be creative!
  • Just be sure to use the hashtag, so you are entered in the contest.

We’ll pick three inspiring entries to win a free copy of the Miss Representation K-12 Classroom Edition for the school of their choice. You’ll also be featured here on our blog!

It’s so important that we tell our stories and we can’t wait to hear yours! Together we can challenge limiting gender stereotypes and transform culture.
