When news broke that OKCupid banned white supremacist Chris Cantwell from its platform, his “8 Online Dating Tips, for the Ladies” also surfaced. Note: Cantell was featured in the Vice Charlottesville documentary calling Heather Heyer’s murder justified. In his dating post, he says things like, “your boundaries are complete bullsh*t” and “if all I can see is your face – you’re a fat girl.”

His post is a haunting reminder that toxic masculinity feeds oppression and violence. In a world where 98% of mass shooters are men (think: Dylan Roof) and nearly half of all murdered women are killed by intimate partners, we must challenge this deadly status quo.
