The Truth About Adolescent Boys

What #AboutBoys? Don’t the same limiting stereotypes that tell women and girls to be passive and deferential, tell boys and men to be dominant and aggressive?

We explored these questions in our film The Mask You Live In (now available on DVD and streaming) and we’re discussing them LIVE this Thursday with Promundo, a global leader in promoting gender justice and preventing violence. They’ve released a thought-provoking report, “The Truth About Adolescent Boys” that looks into the state of boys and identifies concrete steps we can all take to create a healthier culture.

Join us this Thursday the 24th at 9:30 a.m. PT / 12:30 p.m. ET for a Twitter chat discussing how we can better support our boys. Remember to follow along with our @MaskYouLiveIn and @TheRepProject Twitter handles, plus the hashtag #AboutBoys. Together, we will engage more boys and men in advancing gender equality.

“So now the perception is, yes, women are here to stay. And when I’m sometimes asked when will there be enough [women on the Supreme Court]? And I say when there are nine, people are shocked. But there’d been nine men, and nobody’s ever raised a question about that.” – Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, via The Huffington Post
