Signs We Need to Do More to End Campus Sexual Assault

Last week, Old Dominion University’s Sigma Nu fraternity hung offensive signs during move-in week that read:

CNCQ4zeW8AAjn64 (1)
These types of signs, which can be found on fraternity lawns across the nation, normalize the objectification and degradation of women and encourage undergraduates to buy into a toxic definition of masculinity. At a time when nearly one in seven women are the victim of sexual assault, we have to do more to prevent rape culture on campuses and across the nation.

That’s why this week, we encourage you to watch the documentaries, The Hunting Ground and The Mask You Live In, and bring them to your school or alma mater. Together we can challenge harmful stereotypes that normalize sexual assault and keep young people from reaching their full potential.
