Let’s Commit to Fighting Racism and White Supremacy Every Day

This weekend in Charlottesville, we saw a reflection and confirmation of the racism America has dealt with since its inception. People of color were marginalized and threatened with violence just as they always have been, whether in our public spaces, media, education system, workplaces, or prison system. And their advocates were harmed as well. This violence and aggression must end. Just as neutrality and passivity in the face of bigotry must end. It is time for each and every one of us to decide how we will fight racism and white supremacy in our lives every single day.

This week, we’re encouraging you to have a tough conversation with your friends, family, and colleagues about how you will commit to fight racism and bigotry using this article as a guide. In it, activist Brittany Packnett outlines steps people can take to fight white supremacy:

  1. Learn to observe white supremacy.
  2. Learn to confront supremacy. And become an accomplice, not just an ally.
  3. Learn to become a resource, not an overseer.

Today, let’s start the conversations and take action to obliterate the cycles of violence and racism tomorrow.
